Hospital Unit Coordinator 3 - Float Pool (HOSP UNIT SVC CRD 3)
Job Summary
This position is responsible for performing reception and clerical functions for the nursing station; coordinates patient care activities with other departments to include programming and answering call lights, arranging transport services for transporting patients to other areas of the hospital, ancillary services, stocking supplies and forms, doing audits, and functions related to admissions, transfers and discharges of patients.

Department Overview
Patient Care Resources Department at UC Davis Medical Center provides 24/7 RN and HUSC Float Pool coverage to all inpatient care areas within the Patient Care Services division- Acute Care, Critical Care, and Children's Hospital. The department consists of multiple programs that provide support to the inpatient units: RN and HUSC Float Pool, STAN Program, Season Children's Float, Action/Rapid Response Team, New Graduate Nurse Residency Program, SOS (Lunch and Break Relief) Nurses, Pediatric Development Program, and Critical Care Development Program.
Department Specific Job Scope
The role of the HUSC III in the PCR - Float Pool, is to provide reception and clerical functions for all in-patient specialty units within UCD, which includes the Adult Critical Care (ICU) and Acute Care (Medical/Surgical/Telemetry) units, as well as the Critical Care and Acute Care Children's Hospital units. With the varying units being assigned, the HUSC III needs to be flexible and adaptable to the changing environment. The HUSC III interacts with all of the interdisciplinary team members including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, patient transport, lift team, mental health workers, and other professional team members to provide the best patient care experience, and support the effective and efficient functioning of the unit. The HUSC III interacts with all of the interdisciplinary team as well as directly with the patients, patient family members, and visitors, which requires strong customer service and communication skills.
